Are marriages made in Heaven????

Marriages are made in heaven?? Who says so! I really don't know but i think its not the truth of present century. Today we cannot say like that. Its a matter of business and less of love these days. When boys are looking for a life partner they want someone highly educated, highly earning ,very beautiful and most of all a good cook as well. Was this the case in earlier marriages....well i think apart from education and earning rest all goes. So here comes business.....if she earns more than 40,000 per month and boys more than 60,000 per month , then about one lakh per month will be total salary coming to home. And that is the reason most of the guys are inclined towards girls working in MNCs than in any educational institute or any such job.
This was one reason. Another reason is if marriages are really made in heaven , then why boys parents demand for money either directly or indirectly. If the girl is highly educated , she is herself a recurring deposit.. :) . She will bring money home every month. Then why there is huge demands of dowry ( many people don't use this word coz they think it only for the betterment of there child).
Third reason....ok its fine ,let us say that business is settled and girl gets married. Then why it is expected to work day and night both at home aswell as in office. Why can't both boy and girl share there duties when both have same kind of job profile. Then here comes male dominating society.
Though we say we are educated and we can take care of things in better way but the fact is we are all disguising ourselves. But i think that things may change if both boy are girl are willing to do so. They can really make one feel that 'Yes, marriages are really made in heaven and its really beautiful to live a happily married life. '
Good luck to all those who are bachelors!!!

For the agreeable facts:
- The male dominated society DOES NOT stands true if woman is earning (or forget earning, working (in terms of time)), equally to the male.
- Guys got to share equal responsibility at home front, especially with the new age girls busy with many other things (make-up???);) and as i see these guys it they are doing a more acceptable job than those in the historic time-frame you compared things with.

Dis-agreeable: Marriages are made in heaven has more to do with love and perfect matches. It's not a cent-percent thing, but a rare occurrence, not only in today's world but anywhere in the past. If i come to justify (or rather support) it, in the past girls were more agreeable(less demanding) and there compromises added to make things perfect(heaven and marriages :) ). I don't mean to justify that THAT was right, but state what was present.

Over-all i guess i agree, but also feel you got a little specific.

Cheers,
AB

First of thnx ( m a bachelor)

a metaphor - marriages are made in heaven!
I can add for example - divorces as well.

and yes male dominated look for additional income, cooking capability, looks and even after getting all that - dowry ( their selling price!!)

i guess we need to promote this thing.. the SELLING VALUE!!

it was a common misconception years back that educated people will understand the aftermaths of dowry and rise against such evils.. but this MENTALITY.. we got to do it otherwise.. jut the way the world has become.. make them feel shameful..

but this income factor is okay. at least girls are going to marry gentlmn earning well.. but yes if someone is earning and self sufficient.. one should not expect additional things that you expect from a housewife.. rest m yet to get married..i won go for dowry..income or even cooking...
.. my marriage ( down the line 10 years or more) ll b made by 2 of us hr on earth, not by pandits or matrimonial sites or agents!!!!

yeah i think strider is correct. If something is going wrong in our society , we just can't close of eyes and say that we are not a part of it. We need to take a stand and make people aware of whats going around us. I'll really appreciate if you can help me in conveying this message to more and more people to make our society think in better way.
